My family of origin includes artists and architects who were
instrumental in nurturing my visual awareness and love of the visual arts. My formal education began at Cornell
College and concluded at the Kansas
City Art Institute where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting.
I am drawn to and influenced by color, light, and the
rhythms of nature. In my work I have
been exploring ways to create depth through color and through the layering of
form, either through collage or paint. In my mixed media pieces I like using materials that otherwise would
have been discarded, or have been discarded. They come from a careful observation of the world around me, and cause
me to examine the way I live, and what I value.
My work has been shown through out Iowa. I have a major piece in the collection of the
McCreery Cancer
Center in Ottumwa,
Iowa. Currently my work can be seen at the Octagon Center of Arts in Ames,
Arts on Grand, Spencer, The Side Street Gallery, Okoboji, and A Piece of Work, inc.
Spirit Lake, Iowa. Also you may see my work in the Artisans Road
Trip this coming October.
