Over the past 30 years, the artists have worked and pursued their passion for art in seven countries, mostly in Africa.  They relocated to Spencer, Iowa in 2007 and established X-Alt Art Studio as a collaborative space to continue their work in clay, painting, digital arts and other media.

Anita Gilbert recieved her Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Iowa.  She has exhibited her paintings and ceramics in numerous exhibitions, galleries and museums in multiple countries.  Her passion for making art is reflected in her openness to new media as a source for inspiration that constantly challenges her to find new ways to express her artistic vision.

Anthony Vodraska graduated from the University of Iowa and pursued a career in the U.S. Foreign Service.  He nurtured his passion for photography and clay during his career.  His artwork seeks to open doors to an inner awareness of the metaphorical meanings in everyday objects and the spiritual forces that animate the world around us.
