Perry Polson's passion for trees is contagious. He notes "trees stand for years and years with very little gratitude or even a second thoguht as to what they do for us and impact out lives". When the trees die due to storms, disease, or developments, thats when Polson's company Wild Wood gets involved. Using primarily face plate turning, Perry uses almost any kind of wood (sound, decayed, or storm damaged) and turns it into most anything from plates, bowls vases, jewelry, clocks, and artwork to urns for a loved one or the family pet.
Polson opened his studio a year ago in Spencer, Iowa. It was a plan that he had for many years. He assumed that he would pursue it during his retirement years. A construction accident in 2004 forced him to speed up his plans.
