Kelli Farrar |
Kelli Farrar grew up the oldest of three children in the Midwest and spent the wonder-filled summers of childhood at her family’s home on West Lake Okoboji. Even though for 16 years, work and adult life found her over a thousand miles away on the west coast, her heart and history were here in Northwest Iowa. During an extended visit to Okoboji in the summer of 2001 she met her husband, Dave. They now live and work together farming just south of Spencer, a radical change of scenery and lifestyle from the bustle of the big city and temperate climate of San Diego, California. Along with the creating of her photographic art, Kelli enthusiastically embraces many passions and past-times, including competitive sailboat racing, jewelry design, snowmobiling, gardening, cooking, church choir, lay-ministry and many other interests. “ ‘Seeing’ has always come naturally to me, I love enhancing my images, trying to convey my subject matter in a way that pleases me as well as others, using my camera and computer to capture God’s beauty and patterns all around me.”
My intention as an artist and photographer is to notice the details, record the mundane as beautiful; freshen and refocus the perspective that allows the viewer to see with “new eyes” those things that may fade into the background of familiarity.
